![]() Vaughn does a wonderful job balancing the two. But there's something to be said for a mutant story that poses similar thought provoking questions and themes like before, while also making a fun adventure out of it. The original X-Men trilogy took itself very seriously and rightfully so. Up to this point, I liked most of the X-Men films, but even the people who have loved the series would say that there wasn't much "fun" to be had. In large part, the strengths of the film lie with Matthew Vaughn's direction. Even though the continuity has since been mingled with even more, this film did such a great job of resetting the universe without tarnishing what came before. There are a lot of great things about First Class, but I think the one that sticks out to me the most (even after years and tons of viewings) is that it works as both a reboot and prequel. Rating: PG-13 (Intense Sequences of Action|Brief Partial Nudity|Intense Sequences of Violence|Language|Some Sexual Content) However, a situation soon tears the friends apart. ![]() As the world teeters on the brink of a nuclear war, Charles and Erik with other mutants join forces to save humanity. Despite their vastly different backgrounds - Charles grew up with a wealthy family, while Erik lost his parents at Auschwitz - the two become close friends. Recommended for comic book movie fans.In the early 1960s, during the height of the Cold War, a mutant named Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) meets a fellow mutant named Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender). Im interested to know where Xmen will be going from here. This movie succeeds in bringing some interest back to the Xmen franchise since the horrid 3rd film and the disappointing Wolverine. Some of the characters are forgettable but the drama of McAvoy and Fassbender bring it back. McAvoy and Fassbender bring some solid performances, most of the movies pacing is decent and the story interesting with something to care about. ![]() I went into this movie wondering why the Marvel film studio thought that another Xmen backstory movie was something that needed to be told, and while I still dont think this was a necessary movie, especially as there is so much more that could be done with the present day Xmen stories, what I went into this movie wondering why the Marvel film studio thought that another Xmen backstory movie was something that needed to be told, and while I still dont think this was a necessary movie, especially as there is so much more that could be done with the present day Xmen stories, what we have here is the best Xmen movie since the very first. Now pass me the popcorn because i got to think which one of the three sides i will be rooting for in the sequel. I rated this a 9 for the genre which it is in and i hope with the same cast and direction a sequel will soon be forthcoming. My only fear is people will be put off watching this movie due to previous movies and the superhero overload which is presently hitting the cinemas. The actions sequences are good not outstanding but good, the story is a good one for a superhero film and a superhero movie with decent acting well i can honestly say this is the one. You leave the cinema with an understanding and symapathy for the the three protagonists of the film which are Professor X, Magneto and the humans. The one stand out thing that makes this film work is it is a much much more darker film than the previous films and gone to a great degree is the comic book geekness and the clearly defined good vs evil that permeates all superhero movies. This is by far the best xmen film to date and breaths life into the movie franchise. The one stand out thing that makes this film work is it is a I can say this movie left me pleasantly surprised.Lets face it the previous xmen films were not that good and the last stand was barely passable.
